If you’re bringing your own snowmobiles this season, be sure to stop by the New York DMV on your way up to the snow belt. The NY DMV requires every snowmobile to be registered with its department before it can hit the trails, despite being registered in another state. - How to register:
During the season, running from December to March, you can acquire temporary snowmobile registration from the NY State DMV. If you’re out of state and you’d prefer to receive a card immediately, register your snowmobile online. If you don’t belong to a snowmobiling club your registration cost will be $100.
