Lonelyville offers a laid-back environment, peace and quiet, a wide uncrowded beach, and zero commercial traffic and development. There isn’t a shop or restaurant to be found and there’s no direct ferry service.
You can drive to Robert Moses Beach and walk to the Fire Island Lighthouse, which was an important landmark for transatlantic ships coming into New York Harbor at the turn of the 1900s.
